Men have to stay outside - only women can book these hotels. In time for International Women's Day, reisereporter presents the best hotels where women can go on holiday without men.

If a girls' night out at the cinema isn't enough for you, why not go on holiday with your best girlfriends? Women-only travel is an international trend for 2020, according toNational Geographictravel magazine. There are some hotels in the world that women have just for themselves. We show you the best ones.

Josephine's Guesthouse in Zurich

For the past three years, Josephine's Guesthouse, named after the British feminist Josephine Butler, has been located in the heart of Zurich. The accommodation is located on the site where Zurich's Daughters' Home had stood since 1869.

In an interview with the Swiss portal "Travelnews", the operators emphasise that they are not building a hotel in the classical sense, but want to create affordable living space for women. Eight to ten rooms are permanently reserved for women in emergency situations.

In addition, the guesthouse offers various accommodation concepts. Guests can stay for a short time only, but can also book a visit for a month or longer.

One night at Josephine's costs the equivalent of 80 euros. For longer stays, the price per night becomes cheaper. From two weeks, guests pay only 56 euros per night, and from a visit of at least one month, only just under 50 euros per night.

Som Dona Hotel on Mallorca

Since June 2019, there is a hotel on Mallorca that is only open to women. In the coastal town of Porto Cristo, the Som Dona welcomes only female guests over the age of 14.

If you're expecting a feminist persuasion at this hotel, we have to disappoint you. The general manager of the Dom hotel chain stressed that it was a normal hotel. The reason why it is only bookable for women is purely economic, he said. There is an increasing demand for accommodation for women only, so he wanted to open an appropriate hotel.

After the first season, the hotel operators were satisfied with the occupancy rate, as they told the island newspaper "Mallorca Zeitung". Those responsible speak of an occupancy rate of 85 percent. The ratings show a split ratio: In the Google reviews, 50 percent rate the hotel with five out of five stars, but on the opposite side, 35 percent give it the worst rating.

Striking: Many of the negative reviews have one thing in common. For the most part, they come from men. One user writes: "It's a pity that gender discrimination exists in Europe in the 21st century. You should refrain from booking in fascist establishments that discriminate on the basis of race, gender or age. I hope no one goes to this hotel and we will sue the authorities."

As in other hotels, the prices for a standard double room vary according to season and occupancy. Currently, you can get a room from 73 euros per night.

A-style Shinsaibashi, Osaka

If you prefer a long-distance trip to Japan, you'll find a women-only capsule hotel in Osaka. The world's first capsule hotel opened in this port city in 1979. At the A-style in Shinsaibashi, everything is designed like suitcases. The bag look is meant to symbolise travel and business.

Unlike the first two hotels, this accommodation advertises more "feminine" features. In the washrooms, guests can help themselves to a variety of beauty products. Besides a large selection of hair care products, there is also a steam cleaner for the face.

In addition to many cosmetics, the capsule hotel scores with its good location. Shinsaibashi is the city's main shopping centre, and many concert venues can be reached from the underground station directly in front of the hotel.

For the equivalent of just under 27 euros, you get an overnight stay in a capsule including breakfast.

Bliss Sanctuary for Women on Bali

Would you prefer a more luxurious holiday? Then the Bliss Sanctuary on Bali could be the right place for you. Only women are allowed there. The British pop singer Michelle Heaton and the Australian model Tegan Martin, for example, have already stayed at the resort.

This hotel is especially suitable for those who want to enjoy their holidays in complete peace. Not only are no male guests allowed in the resort, but children and couples must also look for other accommodation. The hotel therefore appeals especially to single women travelling alone.

You are free to choose your pastime. You can relax by the pool all day or explore the island on a scooter and visit one of the many temples, for example.

La pura women's health resort kamptal in Austria
